The Primrose Files - A Docuseries on Equity of Access to Healthcare
Launched on October 31, 2022, The Primrose Files is a docuseries led by Primrose Granville, an award-winning broadcaster and Genomics England Ambassador. The series explores healthcare access and trust within under-represented communities. The first episode, filmed in Jamaica, examines locals' perspectives on healthcare and medical research, comparing these views to those of the Black Caribbean and Black African diaspora in the UK. Primrose, driven by her personal experiences and the legacy of her late mother delves into historical and contemporary issues affecting health equity. In Jamaica, she frequently visited the doctors during her childhood and trusted fully in healthcare providers. This contrast sharply with the mistrust she observed during the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK
